We want to tell you about an item that has become very popular these days. Given the state of health emergency in which we find ourselves in Spain, masks have almost been used up in pharmacies across the country.
Masks, which cover people’s noses and mouths, are not all the same. That is why in this article we will give you the keys to understand in which cases the different types are used. Of course, you must remember that the health authorities have recommended that they be used only by people with symptoms and not healthy ones. We do not want to shorten the stock of masks in Spain
What types of masks are there?
Surgical types are the most common, and help people with symptoms not spread the virus when they cough or sneeze. This is possible because they are designed from the inside out. We want this to be very clear to you, since if a healthy person uses this type of mask, it will not prevent contagion.
In contrast, the FFP2 and FFP3 type masks, which are used by health professionals, are the most suitable to protect themselves from contagion. However, from THIS we want to remind you that it is useless to use a mask if we do not complement it with the basic recommendations against the coronavirus:
- Wash hands frequently with soap and water.
- Avoid touching your eyes, mouth and nose as we may touch a contaminated surface.
- Reduce contact and avoid leaving our home.
How to put on a mask step by step
If you do not have symptoms but you are going to use a mask, here we give you some very important tips that you must take into account for its correct use. Remember that prevention is very important:
- Wash your hands with plenty of soap and water before putting on your mask.
- When covering your mouth and nose, make sure there is no gap between your face and the mask.
- While wearing the mask, avoid touching it with your hands. If you do, wash your hands quickly with plenty of soap and water.
- As soon as the mask is wet, change it and do not reuse the single-use ones.
- When removing it, do it from behind to avoid touching the front. Once you have done that, throw it away.
- When you have finished removing your mask, wash your hands again with soap and water. To prevent the coronavirus, the most important thing is hygiene.
