What is a densitometry?
This X-ray technique makes it possible to measure the mineral density of the bones, that is, their calcium content. In addition to helping diagnose osteoporosis early, it helps determine an individual’s risk of a broken bone.
How it is performed?
Performing this technique is quick and does not cause any discomfort for patients, who must lie on their back and remain as relaxed and still as possible. The scanner goes through the entire body emitting low-dose X-ray radiation and takes an x-ray of the spine and hip.
