Digital Reputation Observatory of Private Health in the Canary Islands is a pioneering initiative, jointly developed by Canary Doctor and Visible Salud. It is intended to show semiannually the social reputation status in the Canary Islands of the clinics and health centers that develop their work in the private field. Today, fully immersed in the digital revolution, we acknowledge the importance of digital reputation in all markets, especially in the healthcare field. Hence the applicability and relevance of this study. In this new installment there are very good news for the digital reputation of some of the members of THIS. What information does the Digital Reputation Observatory of Private Health in the Canary Islands provide?
This study focuses on analysing the Facebook fan-pages of the main private clinics that carry out their work in the Canary Islands. Nowadays Facebook, although there are divergent opinions, remains the social channel of reference to create a community around a clinic, hospital or healthcare professional. From Facebook, the center in question can communicate regularly with its followers, turn them into patients and also strengthen their SEO positioning in the market. Thanks to this report you can see in a quick and simple way which are the centres that best manage their social network and why.
What methodology has been followed to obtain the results?
For the preparation of this new installment of the Observatory of Digital Reputation of Private Health in the Canary Islands, 160 clinics and hospitals have been studied, using seven indicators: Number of fans, number of likes, number of publications, page growth, performance, advertising value and commitment.
- Recommendation – the data provided in this report should not be interpreted in an isolated manner, that is, category by category, but rather combine several of them to draw valuable conclusions. All the data obtained has been taken directly from the official Facebook channel.
The seven analysis indicators
To be able to make a good social observation, as we have commented previously, we must use several indicators and combine them to be able to draw conclusions of greater value. Therefore we inform you in short what function each indicator has:
- Fans. This is widely known to everyone who routinely manages this social network. Indicate the current number of fans on Facebook that we get by consulting the platform itself.
- Number of Publications. It is the number of publications uploaded to Facebook in the period of time studied, in this case six months.
- “Likes” . Relevant data as it indicates interaction with the followers. This is the number of Likes the page receives during a certain period of time. Thanks to him we can assess the success of a specific publication and also that of our line of publications.
- % Commitment. It is the percentage of commitment of the fans of the page, that is, their fidelity.
- Growth of the Fanpages. It is the increase of fans in the studied period of 6 months. Sometimes there are clinics that are able to create a whole community of followers in just a few months
- Page performance. Page performance index (IRP) is a combination of activity and page growth. We understand by “Activity” to the activity of fans on a page. It is calculated as the average sum of “Like”, “Comment” and “Share”, divided by the number of fans.
- Advertising value. With its publications, this page has reached a certain number of people. What would have been the expenses of other advertising channels to reach the same number of people as this page with its publications?

Let us now see some results to highlight from this study of the social network Facebook, in relation to the reputation of the private medical centres in the Canary Islands that are part of THIS. Among the most outstanding data we can find:
THIS. Its fan-pages is ranked among the 13th place in the best performance ranking, with a 45%. At the same time, our page is one of the fastest growing in recent months with 560 new followers, ranking 12th.
The Bonome Clinic ranks first in the Canary Islands in the number of followers’ ranking with the enviable figure of 12,800 fans. In this ranking of greater number of fans there is also another of THIS’ partner, Eurofins Lgs-Megalab, which occupies the tenth place with more than 7,000 fans.
San Juan de Dios Hospital. Its page is the most valuable fan-page of the Canary Islands from an advertising point of view, with an estimated value of 8,700€. Other positive facts of this page: it is among the 20 pages of the Canary Islands with more followers, third in “likes” ranking and sixth in the growth ranking with 714 new followers. Congratulations!
Clínica Ginefem is in the ranking of those that have experienced the greatest growth in the last six months with 673 new followers. Cecoten for its part is in the top of the ranking of performance of its page with a percentage of 53%. Obesidad Tenerife is also in the top positions of that list with 52%.
